Happy Birthday, Mac OS X
Months after launching a public beta called Kodiak, Apple released Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah on 24 March 2001.
Everyone knows this has been the evolution of Mac OS X since then, and if not, at TUAW have a specific gallery, and obvious that many changes and improvements made, has always maintained the spirit and basis of the original system, and that has remained unchanged even when the bowels of the Macs have changed, as when the buses were dispensed with Power PC and Intel opted for.
This only happens when a company not only knows what will happen in the future, but also has very clear ideas from the start and know where target the market, and if it were the case, which goes into force that direction.
The ratio of release of all versions of Mac OS X with cat names and dates, is as follows:
• Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah: March 24, 2001.
• Mac OS X 10.1 Puma: September 25, 2001.
• Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar: August 24, 2002.
• Mac OS X 10.3 Panther: October 24, 2003.
• Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger: April 29, 2005.
• Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger (for Intel): 10 January 2006.
• Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard: October 26, 2007.
• Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: 28 August 2009.
