Adobe prepares the output of the AIR platform for Android OS
Adobe Systems announced during the Mobile World Congress 2010, which with the addition of new products, aims to position itself in the market of smartphones, leading the development of Flash applications to a new level, where developers do not have to specialize in language specifically as they consider developing for mobile platforms. Being a single platform Adobe AIR, you can write applications that run in different environments with the same source code, so you can save many lines of code and above all, time. That is, similar to what happens with Java (using a virtual machine to run applications) with the same code, developers can distribute their applications to run on Windows, Mac, Linux and now platafomas laptops.
The AIR platform is about to be taken to the Android OS, a mobile operating system that is gaining a lot of users quickly. With this move Adobe plans to enter the list of major in the field of smartphones, which is dominated by Apple, which has a monstrous market share thanks to the iPhone.
This is an important announcement as to unleash the full potential of this idea, many developers probably feel restless and launched many programs such as games, productivity tools, entertainment, etc.. So perhaps in the near future, thanks to the penetration of the Android OS, Adobe made a little shade to Apple and the iTunes Store.
