How many people surf the Internet in the World

The last time someone decided to count them (and that was very recently) the Internet totaled about 1730 million people distributed in five continents of the globe, but particularly concentrated in Asia, North America (excluding Mexico) and Europe.

While in absolute numbers by far surpasses Asia to other regions with more than 738 million Internet users, Internet penetration with respect to population is approximately two thirds of which exists in Latin America. And one in 10 Internet users lives in our region.

With nearly 180 million Internet users and a penetration of 30.5 percent, the region lags behind Europe (52 percent) and US-Canada with 74.2 per cent, but leads the Middle East (28, 3 percent), Asia, Africa 19.4 percent and 6.8 percent.

Whenever people talk about this issue in Latin America who say come with so many unmet needs, the Internet is a luxury of rich countries and that we must first achieve bring electricity and clean water to millions of families before thinking about the Internet.
